Shopping trends: what’s in store
Shopping habits are constantly changing… and we think the next five years will see lots of different models being developed. Many will be technology-led, causing disruption to the traditional players, but not all. One trend that is growing is the subscription model, where for a regular fee, usually monthly, a retailer will curate and supply a brand’s goods. Leading the way is US menswear service Trunk Club, which offers men a consultation – online or in-store – with a stylist who chooses a selection of clothes, and sends it out to them. Many others are adopting this model and, as with magazine subscriptions, brands can develop their product ranges safe in the knowledge that they already have the money in the bank.
